Tobago’s Other Beaches

“I’m pleased to be chilling in the West Indies. Jah provide all my wants and needs….I got the sunshine, rivers and trees…green leaves.”

The lyrics above pretty much summarizes how I feel about growing up in the Caribbean <3. It was sung by Proteje featuring Chronixx and is entitled Who Knows (you can check out the video on Youtube). We are indeed blessed with sunny weather, most of the time, and many many beaches to meet your every want and desire……..whether you want a beach that is more secluded and that you have to hike to, or you rather a beach with plenty water sports and beach facilities and a restaurant or you want just a quiet relaxing spot where as soon as you park your car you can just take off your shoes and go into the water……whatever it is you can get it in the Caribbean and Tobago is no exception 😎

However, I often find that most persons when they visit Tobago, tend to only stay on the western side of the island and visit Pigeon Point (Pic 1) or Store Bay (Pic 2). Don’t get me wrong, I love love love these beaches but there are so many more beaches to visit on this beautiful island….let me introduce to some of the other beaches you should visit on your next trip! 😉

Tobago’s Hidden gems:

1) Parlatuvier Bay, Tobago

This is surely one of the most photographed locations in Tobago as the view down to the beach is spectacular from the road. Parlatuvier Bay is located in the quiet fishing village of Parlatuvier and it has a very laid back vibe. It is a perfect spot to get some fresh fish, and local food is available at a small restaurant located close to the beach. The water in the beach is calm but deep and there are many fishing boats often docked very close to the pier.

2) Englishman’s Bay

This gorgeous secluded beach was named one of the top 25 beaches in the Caribbean by the Daily Telegraph in 2017. It is one of my favorite spots and I remember swimming out very far out to sea with my cousins in the serene, clear water when I was younger. It is very different from Store Bay (which is popular with locals and tourist’s alike), as there are very often very few persons on this beach. If there are 30 persons on this long stretch of beach, that is a busy day! There is a small restaurant called Eula’s where you can have some lunch and a drink on the beach 😉

3) Castara Bay

Last time I visited Tobago, I had the pleasure of ending up on Castara Bay right around sunset. I found it truly magical to be on such a beautiful beach at that time ❤ This beach has a fish depot, a restaurant and a bar but the bay is very large so there is ample space for you to spread out and relax by yourself without being surrounded by people. You can also have food at the Cascreole restaurant or have a local beer at the bar downstairs.

Special Mention: Pirate’s Bay. I did not visit here on my last trip to Tobago so I do not have any pics to share 😕 But I will be heading here hopefully sometime later in 2019 and I will share my thoughts and own pics of this beach with you soon.
