Hiking in Tobago? Part II – Twin River Falls

After venturing to the beautiful Rainbow Falls , we decided to head to Twin River Falls which was also in the Goodwood area in Tobago. We got back in our cars which we had parked outside of Rainbow Nature Resort and drove to the end of the road and parked when we reached the river ๐Ÿ™‚

The trek to Twin River Fall was longer than the trail to Rainbow Falls but much more beautiful and scenic โค The river level was very low and the water was cold and clear. At some parts of the trail, graceful bamboo provided shade for us as we walked. There was also not one piece of litter anywhere on the trail ….no waterbottles, corncurls packs, KFC boxes ๐Ÿ˜ฎ which is what we have grown accustomed to especially along some of the more popular trails in Trinidad :/ It was refreshing to see the pristine beauty of this trail in Tobago.

The river course ….

It took us 25 mins to reach to the waterfall but we ran at some points. (The usual hiking time is about 40 mins one way). Along the way, we passed the point where the two rivers became one, hence the reason for the name of the waterfall. At this point you stayed right and continued on to the falls.

When we arrived at the waterfall, we were just so impressed by the beauty of mother nature, unspoilt by man. This waterfall, unlike Rainbow falls had a big natural pool to bathe in and although the water was cold, it was inviting and you could not help but go in ๐Ÿ˜Ž

For most of my life, the only waterfall I knew in Tobago was Argyle Waterfall. It was amazing to discover two more in one day. Although Twin River falls is not as tall and impressive as Rincon in Trinidad for example, it is lovely, beautiful and pristine. An easy hike and a perfect place to relax. It feels as if it were your own personal waterfall in your backyard, your own slice of heaven โค

PS. A little about me, I have been hiking for about 5 years and I am currently a hike-leader with HikersUnited (IG and FB).

Much Love
